Balgassi Family Blogs Mission Statement

I was inspired to start a blog (aka "web log," or online journal) when my friend Debbi started hers in September 2004. She asked, "Want to jump with me?"

I did, and I have.

The neat thing about blogs is that they can be whatever their authors want them to be.

My blogger started out as a writing journal. It morphed into our family scrapbook, with a focus on snapshots of our life with those dear to us. My goal is to capture and preserve the major moments - and the tiny, fleeting gems that might otherwise have been forgotten. As of February 1, 2007, this family blog is locked. If you'd like a key, please read our final public post for instructions on how to get one.

Louisa's first blogger started out as a simple diary of a first-grader. It soon blossomed into a continuing conversation with her godmother.

Studio Lou is Louisa's virtual art portfolio. (I help her post, but the design - including the lettering, colors - is purely Louisa.)

When she was in high school, Adria created a blog of children's book reviews: Adria's Book Nook. She recommended favorite children's books from her childhood - and newer ones she discovered with her little sister, Louisa.

Adria's in college now, and has decided to move on to another creative blog. In Spring 2007, she launched In Cinq, a community art project that pairs 9-word self-revealing cinquains with their authors' self-portraits. Cinqpics are stored in the cinq drawer. Adria welcomes contributions from all ages.
