February 2010
I'm happy to leave 2009 behind. I'm grateful to all my doctors. They continue to give me wonderful care, and 2010 has me feeling stronger with every passing day. In fact, I feel better than I have in years.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to my family and friends for showing me so much love and support in the past year and half.
I know that I kept many in the dark until recently. If my silence made you worry more, I am truly sorry; my intent was the opposite.
Those who did know were intent on keeping us well fed. Mary surprised me with a scrumptious Mother's Day brunch, delivered right to my door. My sister delighted us with personalized bento boxes filled with savory banchan and appetizers. Auntie Fran's pies, mocha mousse, and crème brûlée put us over the moon. Karany shared delicious Cambodian dishes. Lisa spoiled us with homemade baked treats, including the heavenly peanut butter cake pictured below. Yes, it tasted as good as it looks. Please enjoy a virtual slice. ;)
Wishing everyone a healthy and fulfilling 2010 (and beyond!),
April 2009
Thank you, PaperTigers, for featuring Peacebound Trains as the April 2009 Book of the Month!
Read my article, "Connecting Voices Through Generations," on PaperTigers.
Also on PaperTigers, read an interview with Chris Soentpiet, the award-winning illustrator of Peacebound Trains.
I am dealing with a health issue at present, which prevents me from announcing a new student writing contest in the near future. Instead, I invite you to check out curriculum ideas and activities for my books.
Feel free to peek in on older news in the attic.
Thank you for stopping by. :D
